The Full Story
With Balans was born from personal experience, rooted in a desire to empower high-achievers to bring balance and joy into their lives while managing high-pressure work environments. As a former lawyer, I understand the challenge of excelling at work while trying to maintain personal wellness. Yoga had been a part of my life since my teenage years, but it was a practice I slowly began to neglect as the demands of work and personal obligations encroached on my personal time.

In 2020, I decided to complete my yoga teacher training. I specialised in therapeutic yoga which is focused on treating stress and anxiety. Through this journey, I took a deep dive into studying the effects of stress on both physical and mental health—and I haven't stopped talking about it since.

At first, I noticed the signs of stress and anxiety in my colleagues—complaints of poor digestion, sleeplessness, shallow breathing, brain fog, fatigue, and even panic attacks. But despite my awareness of these risks, I fell into the same trap. Life’s challenges and work opportunities pushed me to overextend myself, thinking I could power through and rest once I met my goals. That mindset led to a difficult period of burnout, where I experienced drastic changes in my energy levels, mood, appetite, and motivation.
This pivotal experience changed everything. Unable to recognize my own state, I became dedicated to studying burnout, particularly why high-achieving women are so prone to it. What is the mindset that got me here despite everything I know about stress and what can I change to ensure I never get here again? I discovered that societal pressures, the expectation to “do it all,” and the habit of neglecting our own needs create the perfect conditions for burnout. However, making tiny changes to our habits can make a huge difference.

My experience with burnout became a positive turning point. It finally motivated me to practice true rest and self-care, which, in turn, left me feeling more empowered, energized, and joyful than ever. My recovery allowed me to reclaim my health and set boundaries, and today, I feel fulfilled and balanced. My mission is to help other high-achievers achieve the same transformation.
